Flu Vaccination

Flu-Vaccination 2023-2024

ROC provides both occupational health and a range of other health services in its private clinic. As part of its occupational health services, ROC provides a seasonal flu vaccination programme to businesses. As we all know, flu (influenza) is a common infectious viral illness spread by coughs and sneezes. It can be very unpleasant and serious, especially for those in the ‘at risk’ groups.

Flu can be caught all year round, but it’s especially common in winter, which is why it’s also known as seasonal flu. Flu isn’t the same as the common cold. Flu is caused by different groups of viruses, the strains change each year, hence, individuals are encouraged to get their annual flu vaccine as part of a prevention and protection programme.

Flu symptoms

Flu symptoms tend to start more suddenly, can become more severe and last longer. Some of the main symptoms of flu include:
– High temperature (fever) of 38C (100.4F) or above
– Tiredness and weakness
– Headache
– General aches and pains
– Dry, chesty cough

Why should an employer invest in a flu vaccination programme?

Flu can make one feel so exhausted and unwell resulting in:
– Sickness absence
– Reduction in work productivity which could lead to frustrated customers and cancellation of orders
– Increased workload and risk of burnout of employees
– Reduced morale within the workforce.

How effective is the flu vaccine?

Flu vaccine gives the best protection against the main strains of flu viruses for that season/year. However, if one gets flu after vaccination, it is likely to be milder and not last long. In addition, having a flu vaccine may help stop the spread of the virus to others thereby protecting colleagues or family members who are at more risk of serious problems if they caught the flu i.e. pregnant women and those with compromised immunity, etc.

What do you need to do to Protect your best asset in your organisation?

The vaccine can take 10-14 days to provide protection from the time it is administered. It is, therefore, important that a business puts plans in place as early as possible to ensure that its workforce is protected this year. ROC Health Group is here to help achieve this important objective of your business.

How does ROC deliver the programme?

ROC can administer the flu vaccine in two ways:
– On the client’s site; this is the most favourable for most employers because the service is brought to the employer’s premises. Employees return to their desks in less than 10 minutes, the same time as making coffee.
– At ROC’s clinic premises, which we can also accommodate.
